PROPER AGITATION (SHAKING) BEFORE SPRAYING IS VERY IMPORTANT

Cerakote raw materials and solvents will separate and settle over time, therefore, It is critical to be sure the raw materials and solvent are mixed thoroughly. If Cerakote isn’t mixed properly, it will create an uneven ratio of these components, in return this will yield a coating rich in solvents and result in a glossy or transparent look. Without agitation the coating will be obviously inconsistent. When a bottle hasn’t been properly mixed, you will also find that the coating will become more viscous (thicker) which will result in poor spray-ability, aesthetics, and performance.

Cerakote raw materials and solvents will separate and settle over time, be sure to vigorously shake Cerakote if done by hand. We recommend using a paint shaker for proper agitation, see below for suggested mixing times.

The following Cerakote coatings are denser and need to be shaken a few minutes longer:

  • C Series
  • Glacier Series
  • All Specialty Coatings

Helpful Hint: To make mixing a little easier, you can drop degreased marbles or hex nuts into the bottle of Cerakote to assist in the agitation.
