Oli e altri contaminanti rimangono intrappolati in aree ristrette e vengono rilasciati attraverso il calore nella fase di fuoriuscita del gas o nella fase di polimerizzazione. Uno sgrassaggio inadeguato compromette l'adesione in queste aree e provoca la delaminazione del rivestimento. Per un'adesione ottimale \u00e8 indispensabile che il substrato sia privo di qualsiasi contaminante, ad esempio oli, polvere, grasso e sostanze. Lo sgrassaggio aiuta anche a preservare i mezzi di sabbiatura, rimuovendo il grasso e gli oli sui pezzi prima della sabbiatura.
